Dutch Ministry of Justice May Launch Investigation into ‘Illegal Gambling’

dutchnews.nl has reported that the Justice Ministry is to launch an investigation to see if steps to stamp out illegal gambling introduced after its last probe six years ago have been successful. The department also wants to find out how much money is involved in the illegal online gaming.

The Ministry said that in 2000 illegal casinos and gambling via the internet had an annual turnover of €230m and had clear links with organised crime. The Netherlands' legal casinos are all under state control.
