FFT claim rejected: Belgians will be able to place online bets with EU operators on Roland Garros and Paris Masters 2008
29/04/2008: In three rulings issued yesterday in cases brought forward by the French Tennis Federation (FFT) in Belgium against EU licensed operators including EGBA member bwin, the Liège first instance court rejected all allegations of the complainant.
Online gaming industry calls for European cooperation in responsible gaming
18/04/2008: Key stakeholders from across the online gaming industry spoke with one voice at the inaugural ‘Responsible Gaming Day’ event at the European Parliament yesterday, calling on the EU for greater cooperation to ensure a safer and more secure online gaming environment for consumers.
EGBA shares EU concerns on draft Italian remote gaming decree
16/04/2008: The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) welcomes the Commission’s decision to issue formal Comments on the Italian draft decree on remote gaming. The draft, which lays down requirements for remote gaming operators to become operational in Italy, also raised stronger concerns from Malta, in the form of a Detailed Opinion. These decisions strictly prevent Italy from adopting its Decree in its current format before 29 April 2008 and should bring it to amend its draft
L’EGBA sostiene la decisione della Commissione relativa alla bozza di decreto italiano
16/04/2008: L’Associazione europea degli operatori del gioco d’azzardo e delle scommesse (European Gaming and Betting Association – EGBA) accoglie con piacere la decisione della Commissione europea di inviare un commento ufficiale sulla bozza di decreto italiano relativo al gioco d’azzardo online. La bozza, che stabilisce i requisiti che gli operatori di gioco d’azzardo online devono soddisfare per poter operare in Italia, ha suscitato anche forti preoccupazioni da parte di Malta, sotto forma di parere circostanziato. Queste decisioni vietano all'Italia di adottare il Decreto nella sua attuale forma prima del 29 Aprile e dovrebbero portarla a una revisione della bozza.
Online betting in tennis: French Tennis Federation sued for damages
09/04/2008: Following claims by the FFT (Fédération Française de Tennis) that services offered by online sports betting operators present a danger to the ethics of sport, bwin, a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), is suing the French Tennis Federation for damages before a Paris court (Tribunal de grande instance).
European Commission opposes payment blocking in France
03/03/2008: The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) welcomes the European Commission’s detailed opinion against the French draft decree on gaming payments. The draft intends to oblige French financial institutions to block payment orders from online gaming operators listed by the French authorities, even those that are fully licensed, regulated and based in the EU.
EU-kommisjonen mot sperring av betalingsformidling i Frankrike
03/03/2008: Den europeiske organisasjonen for spill og veddemål (The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA)) setter pris på EU-kommisjonens uttalelse mot det franske utkastet til dekret om betalingsformidling i forbindelse med spill. Hensikten bak utkastet er å pålegge franske finansinstitusjoner plikt til å sperre betalingsanvisninger fra nettbaserte spilloperatører registrert av franske myndigheter, selv de som er fullt ut lisensiert, regulert og basert i EU.
Europese Commissie verzet zich tegen blokkering van betalingen in Frankrijk
03/03/2008: EGBA, de European Gaming and Betting Association, is tevreden over de uitvoerig gemotiveerde mening van de Europese Commissie tegen het Franse ontwerpbesluit inzake gokspelbetalingen. Het ontwerpbesluit heeft tot doel Franse financiële instellingen te verplichten betalingsopdrachten te blokkeren van online-gokbedrijven op de lijst van de Franse overheid, zelfs de bedrijven waarvan de licentie volledig in orde is, die onder de Europese wetgeving vallen en die in de EU gevestigd zijn.
European Commission requests the Netherlands and Greece to remove national gaming restrictions
28/02/2008: The European Gaming & Betting Association (EGBA) welcomes today’s decision by the European Commission to pursue infringement proceedings against the Netherlands and Greece and to formally request them to remove gaming restrictions which were found inconsistent with EU law. The Commission took the first step in the infringement procedure against the Netherlands and Greece in March 2006 and June 2007 respectively by issuing a letter of formal notice.
Europese Commissie vraagt Nederland en Griekenland nationale beperkingen op kansspelen op te heffen
28/02/2008: De EGBA (European Gaming & Betting Association) verwelkomt het vandaag door de Europese Commissie genomen besluit om inbreukprocedures uit te voeren tegen Nederland en Griekenland en deze landen formeel te vragen om gokbeperkingen, waarvan werd aangetoond dat deze niet stroken met de Europese wetgeving, op te heffen. De Commissie nam de eerste stap van de inbreukprocedure tegen Nederland en Griekenland op respectievelijk maart 2006 en juni 2007 door een ingebrekestelling uit te schrijven.
